Who We Are

The CWC is a network of labour activists who share information and develop strategies for joint action in the field of workers' capital.

The CWC was established in November 1999, following a meeting of international trade union leaders in Stockholm, Sweden.

The CWC's formal name is the Global Unions Committee on Workers' Capital, in recognition of its affiliation with the major international trade union bodies, including the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), the Global Unions Federations (GUFs), and the Trade Union Advisory Committee to the OECD (TUAC).

Ken Georgetti, President of the Canadian Labour Congress, chairs the Committee. The CWC Chair reports on activities to the ITUC General Council, the Council of Global Unions of the Global Union Federations (GUFs) and the TUAC Plenary. These processes help to ensure that the Committee adheres to appropriate governance and transparency standards.

The CWC Secretariat is hosted by SHARE, a non-profit organization with close ties to the Canadian labour movement. The work of the Committee is implemented through working groups and discussion forums that operate largely virtually.
