Proxy Voting with a Purpose: Strengthening Workers’ Rights Through Asset Manager Accountability

January 11 @ 7:00 am - 8:00 am

REGISTER HERE

Are asset managers voting in favour of resolutions calling on companies to uphold fundamental labour rights? Given that they are often the among the largest shareholders in companies, global asset managers can carry significant influence when it comes to changing corporate behaviour on fundamental labour rights. Over the 2023 proxy season, the Secretariat of the Global Unions’ Committee for Workers’ Capital (CWC) encouraged global asset managers to support resolutions that were backed by CWC participants at publicly-listed companies such as Amazon.com, Starbucks, Netflix, POSCO Holdings, and Kingspan Group.

In this webinar, the CWC will release its latest report, Voting for Labour Rights: How the World’s Largest Asset Managers Measured Up in Proxy Season 2023, which reviews how global asset managers voted on CWC-backed resolutions. In addition to reviewing the report, the webinar will provide asset owners concrete solutions to hold their asset managers accountable on their proxy voting records.

This webinar is for asset owner representatives (including trustees and staff) and trade union officials; other interested participants will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
